How often should I feed my sliders? My tank get really gross in a few weeks, anything to slow the "gross" factor down? I've tried different kinds of filters. Also, any ideas for algae on the floating basking thing?
Thanks!
Brian

It depends on how big they are & their age. Hatchlings feed daily, older turtles can go every other day.

Bleach will kill aglae & keep it gone for a long time. Just soak in 9 parts water to 1 part bleach for 20 minutes or so, then rinse well, let it air dry.
I used to clean my tank once a week until I bought a better filter, and a better tank now I can go for 2 weeks but even if it still appears to be clean after 2 weeks I tear down & clean anyway. Just because the water looks clean doesn't make it so.
They are dirtier animals than fish & if the water isn't clean enough bacterial or fungal infections can happen.
