something different I guess...very weak little snake...no pink whatsoever on it and can see straight through it...

just went to check on it...I had separated it from the others right after it hatched...it came out strong but seemed to go downhill real fast...just wasn't meant to be :*(...all the other hatchlings (mostly amels with some snows, and still a few sittin' head out of eggs) are doing fine...peace, Chris
a corn from cornsnakemorphs.com that hung in there for a while, but also died. I think pictures of it are still up at the site.
Too bad.
Chris,
I'm sorry about the lil guy. He was a cutie.

I had some like this hatch out of my ghost x ghost clutch this year. The snows from this clutch are very... ghostish?? They pretty much have no color at all, although you can see some pattern. Very strange looking. I'm waiting until I have some normal snows hatch and everyone sheds so I can take some comparison photos. I'm sorry to hear your little one didn't make it. Any chance it was het or homo hypo?

It also had a pattern...Just very "white" hehe...I had no clue the amel parents were het anery to be honest, so I'm certainly unsure of any other genetics...it was really a see-through little snake...peace, Chris

I forget what I read (in my biology books) when I saw the first clear snow from Exotics by Nature, but it was something to do with the hemoglobin and another certain protein or supplement (iron?) that it would most likely be missing. If I hatched one out (and I could remember what I read it needed) I think I would have tried injections of the supplement to see if it would live that way. It would be a life long thing though. I doubt it would be able to live without the supplement. I'm figuring it has to do with not being able to deliver enough oxygen to the body.
I never expected Exotics by Nature's snake to make it once it was pretty clear that they weren't going to take any extra precautions to make it live (ie. give supplements).
If I were you and I still had the body of the snake, I would take it to a vet for them to examine the blood. See what they could find. You never know, it could be some new scientific discovery.

I froze the body in a couple sandwich bags that were placed in a tupperware container(best I could do)...Thats funny you mentioned supplements...the first thing my wife said when she saw it is that it looked like it needed a shot of ProCrit...Guess I'd have to find a vet interested enough to want to do some research on it, but it's definately food for thought...Thanks for the tip, Amanda :*) and peace...Chris
I am sorry that you don't feel that we gave the effort to keep our little "Clear" animal alive. We did all that we could in the short period that the animal was distressed.
As I stated at the time of posting the original pictures of her... She was already about 4 months old at that time and had done well up to that point. She had reached about 14-16 inches in length and suddenly started to regurgitate. A small amount of Flagyl and Panacur was administered with little luck. After a short time of only a couple of weeks, she had even begun to regurgitate mouse tails.
It was an extreme upset to us when she finally died. We felt that for an animal that size to crash so suddenly, we did all that we could do.
We are expecting another clutch from her parents to hatch sometime in the next week. Maybe we will see something else like this.
Sincerely,
-----
