My mother is one class act. She has always let me get whatever creature I wanted "as long as they are kept clean and you can pay to feed them." When I was 12-15 years old I cleaned cages and fed animals at a local pet store for free mice, rats, crickets, and bedding. I kept everthing from conures, caimans (sp), beardies, iguanas, snakes, and so on. My room was a mini zoo. Well not anymore, I have learned to control my urges at the local reptile show. My collection now consists of 6 boas, 2 cresties, 1 dart frog, and a bearded dragon.

I just moved into a new apt. that would not let me keep "exotics." And since my mother likes to keep her room warm, they have all found a new home.

Awesome! I have a similar mom. When I was a kid she let me keep whatever I wanted as long as I took care of it. I used to love catching gravid Garter snakes and keeping them until they had their babies. Many times they got loose, so the house would be full of babies! My mom would just laugh.... Nothing beats a great, understanding mother!

I can relate also. I blame my mom for my habit/hobby. She used to catch garters and let me hold them when I was probably 3 or 4 so I wouldn't grow up to be afraid of them. In this pic I was 7

I can relate with ya my mom and dad are big animal lovers and my three sisters are horse fanatics. I'm the only boy and yes I have loved the creepy crawlers of all sorts. Can't even list all the different reptiles I have had between the past 10 years LOL it would take up the whole page!

Yes she would. We have the same mother Ell. Can you believe mom sleeps next to a 6 1/2 foot boa constrictor.
