10 gallon or 55 gallon?

animalkeeper Feb 05, 2006 03:23 PM

As of right now, i have my ball python in a 55 gallon aquarium. Over the past couple weeks, i have been debating on whether or not to place him in a 10 gallon and turn my 55 gallon into a carniverous plan terrarium. is a 10 gallon too small? it seems that he uses most of the 55 gallon, always climbing on things. Would it be ok if i "decked out" my 55 gallon with foilage and "furniture" to make it look really nice and leave him in the 55?

10 is too small for anything but a baby/juvenille.

I kept both of mine in a 20 long from when I first got them until they were about 2ft long, now they are adults and have a 4ft x 2ft enclosure. I wouldnt even put my baby red-tail in a 10, with a decent size water bowl and a hide, there would be no room to move around.
If you do put them in the 55 with it filled with plants and stuff, make sure that there is nothing in there that could hurt them and realize that they will probably crush some of the plants. I have a few live plants in my enclosure and I rotate them with a couple other about every week so that they dont die from being crushed.
