Is a 40 gallon tank measuring 36"L x 18"W x 15"H to large to keep an adult male gecko in by himself? Or would 36"L x 12"W x 12"H be better?
Thanks

Well, I'd personally go with the wider tank... I can't see how once he's used to it having that extra few inches of roaming space could ever be bad...

Thanks for your reply
would the 36"x12"x12" be ok for one male? and would the 40 gal be Ok for 2-3 females or even 4?
I'm just wondering what i could eventually do with these tanks. They are aquariums, so they could be used for fish as well (as opposed to my 20 gallons which are specifically *terrariums* and cannot hold water). I would prefer to use the larger tanks for geckos as opposed to the 20gal, maybe leaving those ones for babies in the Very Very distant future
My fathers guppies and sword fish are producing babies (SO CUTE!) and i've already lost one tank to him for the babies hehehe. I'm sure if he had a spot to put the 40 gal he would jump at the chance to use it
Thanks for the feedback
HI HO HI HO its off to work i go.........WAAAAAAAAAAAAA LOL

OKay, again going on what I've read here on the boards, and in various books (Barrons etc.) you can keep 1 grown male in an area the size of a sweater box... so again you can put the male basically anywhere you want to. As for the females, all of the books say you can keep up to 4 (provided they get along) in a 20gal long.. so in a 40, I would say 6? 8 just seems a bit much to me... anyway, they are social animals, so as long as they get along, you can probably put as many as you are comfortable with providing they each have a hide etc...
Jeff
Thankyou very much
6 females WOW!!! here i was thinking 4 females in the 40 gal would be to crowded
I won't be getting them any time soon.....might wait and see whats at the Toronto show in September. But its great to know my options
When i get them setup i'll make sure to post pics
Thanks again
