Help with Anery

drasticplastic Feb 06, 2006 01:14 PM

I've had my anery for about 3 months now, his temps are fine, he eats a good meal every week, he's growing (about 2 feet now) there is only one problem, he hasn't shed since I got him. All my other snakes have shed at least twice in the same amount of time, why hasn't this guy shed yet??

I try and keep his humidity up but it's hard with a 10 gallon tank and a screen top. I'm waiting for my new cage to arrive so hopefully that won't be an issue anymore. Usually what I do now is I'll mist him a little and put a towel over the top of the cage leaving about a half inch to an inch of screen open to trap as much humidity as I can. In the past I've had snakes begin to shed even with low humidity, then I raise it, with this guy, he hasn't started yet so I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if I should be worried.

I wouldn't worry, some boas grow at a slower rate than others. It all depends on how big the parents are and what ssp. they are from.
As long as the temps are fine and it's eating I wouldn't worry. It just may not be a monster when it is grown.
