hurt arm- wait for my vet or go to ER?? (long sorry!)

Patch (female 2.5 years old) hurt her arm - broken, dislocated or ?? I don't know what she did - I just got up yesterday and she was limping. The problem appears to be with her "elbow" or below. It is completely limp - with no ability to push or hold it up at all. It is not misshappen, distorted, nor are any bones sticking out. I can't feel any obvious breaks or dislocations either, but it is mildly swollen. I was going to take her to her vet today, but he is out of the country for some continuing education thing and I can't get her in until Wednesday morning. His office gave me the name of another reptile vet, but I don't know anything about this guy at all. What do you all think?? Should I try to get her seen by the unknown vet today or tomorrow or just watch her closely and take her to her regular vet on Wednesday (assuming nothing changes before then of course).

She does not appear to be in a lot of pain (but I know that is hard to determine). She is eating normally and pooped today. She is alert and as active as normal. I've upped her calcium and increased her UVB by making sure she has several hours of outside basking yesterday and today (I live in AZ so the weather is warm and sunny!) Because she keeps trying to walk on it, I've confined her a bit so she is very limited (she can't climb anything and fall or walk too far).

I had a horrific experience with a vet who claimed to be an experienced reptile vet but wasn't, so I'm really scared to take her to an unknown vet. I don't want to hurt her by not taking her in right away either. Do you think she's ok til Wednesday??

Thanks very much,
Lisa

With her hurt arm and all! She turned into an egg laying machine after one mating last year, so after she woke up from brumating, I decided she would forgo any breeding this year and just recover from last year. The little twit made eggs anyway! I thought she was just putting on weight!

I dug a nice cave for her in her egg laying bin , but it wasn't good enough and she is digging away with that bad arm! I don't want her to get hurt, but I don't want her egg bound! What now??

She is going to drive me insane!

She may have sprained it trying to dig, I wouldn't sweat it, let her do her thing and see what happens between now and wednesday.

Thanks! I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to my beardies! I've probably paid for my vet's trip out of the country!

Thanks again,
Lisa
