Black Pastel's and Cinny's

JKBREPTILES Feb 06, 2006 02:39 PM

Are these to morphs compatible? Do the supers look the same as one an other in person? Is pig nosing an issue and why?

What the heck is pignosing?

They are the same pretty much like regular pastels were you have Bell,Blond,Graziani, ect. just different lines of the same mutation. Heard and seen the pig nose thing not sure if it causes any problems or not.

The Cinnamon gene is highly varied just like the Pastel, Hypo and many other traits .... yes, technically they are all "color" lines of Cinnamon but even there we are seeing a huge variation in bloodlines ... Black Pastels are not only more orange and black but also have a more busy pattern than Gregs "typical" Cinnamon line ... however the real difference can be seen when you start to view Pewters/Amber (Cinnamon Pastel), Silver Bullets (Super Cinnamon Pastel) and Silver Streaks (Super Pastel Cinnamon or be more correct a Super Pastel Pewter) ... there the different lines produce total different looking Designer morphs ... witness the Ian G Silver Streak vs Mark Mandics Sterling Pastel ...technically the same morph but as different as light and day ... so yes, Cinnamons and Black Pastel (and even the new Orange Headed Cinnamons) are all the same mutation but they are very different.

Light and day? did you mean night and day?

Pignosing is just as it sounds, the nostrils on the snake looks like a pigs nose and is quite noticable on some of the 1st super black pastels. It probably happen because the genetics are so close together sib to parent. I hear that out crossing the gene works to cure this problem..Also Graziani's line of cinny doesn't seem to have it at all and that's most likely because Greg outcrosses big time, had the pleqasure of meeting him once at daytona... and he seemed to want to keep things out crossed and that deserves a lot of respect...

Yes, that should be night & day ... you are probably right on the "pig nosing" ... outcross, outcross, outcross !!
