Southern California Herpers in the Fire path

JM Feb 06, 2006 07:59 PM

It occured to me just now that if your in the fires path here in So Cal you may have trouble evacuting your herps and rodents to a shelter that will allow them. If you need to you can put them in my garage~ not a perfect solution, but that will keep your collection quarintined from mine and get them out of the fires path for now. I am down the I-15 just south of Corona proper.

Call me if you need a place for your animals.

Let's hope that everyone is ok and nobody needs to take you up on it!

No one has yet~ which I hope means everyone is safe and sound. I'll keep the cell phone with me as long as the fire is still a threat so if someone needs they can use the rack in the garage for a short time. I don't think the fire has not taken any homes ~ but the news showed people evacuating horses earlier. Thats when it occured to me that there may not be a place to evacuate some of the pets that are considered "less cute" by the general public.

It's not a good solution~ I'm not a rescue or a shelter~ but there is some room in the garage if anyone needs it.

Nice to see other herpers willing to help others! Congrats to you! I am on the other side of the hill in Anaheim Hills but far enough away that we should be fine.

It was really interesting waking up this morning to a weird orange glow from the sun shining through the smoke - weird apocalyptic colors. Hope all the homes stay safe.

I guess Californians gotta pay some kind of price for having 86 degree days in February.

86F and NO RAIN. We've had what......2 rain days this season? Maybe 3 (I think one of the days they told us we MIGHT get rain y'all closer to LA did but we didn't). I think we are in a lot of trouble this year when fire season actually starts~

If I'm right~ any time I"m not IN the path myself~ other herpers will be welcome to use my garage (the rack thats out there won't be later in the season~ but out of the fire path is better than nothing). If we help each other out our animals will at least have a chance.

Good luck everyone! Hope your all safe and sound!
