Black Headed Python Info Needed

toaster529 Feb 06, 2006 08:55 PM

Hi,
I am looking for information on Black Headed Pythons.
Specifically, the difference between east and west.
Temperment when captive born/raised, maximum size, etc.

Any links or help would be greatly appreciated.
My searches haven't turned up as much info as I'd hoped.

Thanks.

No one (as far as I know) can really say there's an east and west version. While the western ones tend to be lighter, there are darker western ones. Seems like color is not a good way to judge. There is a slight scaling difference, but not a constant one.
All the babies are reluctant to eat, and some try lizards or snakes first. Once started on rodents, they are pigs. Mine went from babies to 7' in a year. Max size is about 10'.
Babies flatten their heads and look like little cobras when they're angry.

Adults are like pussycats, temperment-wise.
