i think all of ivan's eggs were duds. i have them cooking just in case but i really don't think anything will become of them. i wonder if she just can't get pregnant. i saw her and walter do it and i know there is nothing wrong with him because gertie has had eggs.

but all in all she is alive and that is all i really care about

Is there any way to tell if eggs are fertile with out incubating them? I know you can candle bird eggs to see if there is an embrio, it should work on lizard eggs too.

I have candled all kinds of herp eggs, yes you should be able to see an embroyo but not always. The content of fertile eggs is usually clear, it is when it has an opaqe color that they are usually no good, and if a lizard does not dig a nest and burry the eggs is sometimes an indication of bad eggs but not always. Heck just incubate them and wait, you have nothing to loose by at least trying them.

well usually you can see a pink spot on the egg where the embryo is. also dud eggs feel like little water ballons. after a while you can tell the good from the bad, however, i still always incubate them just in case

What do you mean when you say they feel like water balloons?

Just curious if she has ever had a cool down time? Some of my girls would have fertiles without ever brumating, but never many, and a few would be infertile.

Have to see what works, and go with it Always a learning thing, I find each girl different also. Some seem to lay an awful lot of eggs each time, Some lay a few.

Interesting !

i have never brumated any of my lizards, well gertie was brumated for like a week before she was sent to me but then she woke up. i have never been in a position to brumate them, winter break from school, now i just moved, and it makes me very nervous thinking about it. maybe once i have a place and my life starts coming together i will think about brumation and at the rate my life is coming together, i should brumate some lizards in about 30 years
