Gecko Rack Ideas?

geckonate Feb 07, 2006 12:33 AM

Hey, just wondering if anyone has a home-built reptile rack that they designed just for leos. I'm thinking of condensing my friends from their individual glass containers to sterlite sweater boxes to possibly saving on electricity and make an easier to clean environment than big glass aquariums.

I'm thinking 6 or 8 sterlite boxes. any ideas? pics? plans?

I was considering getting the measurements on my matrix rack system and making my own. I can give you the measurements if you would like.

that would be great. I'm trying to keep the costs down, as you can imagine. Think its cruel for a gecko to go from a 20 gallon tank to a large sterlite container?

a 20 gallon is 12" x 24" so about 288 sq. inches

a sterilite sweaterbox is 22" x 16" so about 352 sq. inches

IMO the sweaterbox is better because its easier to clean, more floor space, and in a rack the animal should feel more secure because the top, back, and sides are solid.

I use sterilite sweater boxes and they're actually 16 1/2" x 11" x 6 3/8". You're describing the blanket box. I currently have for females in sterilte blanket box and some breeders keep 1.4 groups in them. It'd be a waste of space if you plan housing your males alone in blanket boxes. Anyways, like he said the sweater box is better for said reasons.
