what to do with feeders

lele Jul 26, 2003 11:06 AM

I know I can't sell directly on this site so anyone interested please contact me privately.

When I first got the chams I ordered mini-mealies from Grubco and they weren't mini's so I couldn't feed them to my leaf chams. I have been taking good care of them (in the fridge, out every two weeks to feed for 24 hours then back) and there are hundreds, probably more like thousands(!) ranging between .5" to 1.25" (the original order was 600 - what was I thinking???) but there were a LOT more than that to begin with. I also ordered some silkies when Makeda first got sick and none of my guys have ANY interest in them and they are growing too fast. They are being fed fresh mulberry not artificial diet.

I am not looking to make any $$ just to recoup some of my expense and will sell them at my cost: mealies were 8.00 and silkies were $5). So $13 total if you pay for the shipping.

let me know

Lele-

I still cant get over why your pygmy's refused the silkworms. White food like termites are their favorite food. Maybe because they are CB and not WC and use to eating them in the wild? I have 1000's of pinheads right now if you need crickets and they are about this size - . They are breed by me, and I have new ones hatching every few weeks. I don't have a need for all them until my pardalis eggs hatch, just for my Ulu's right now. FYI another clutch of Ambilobe is on its way, she is gravid again.

if your meal worms are too big, see if you can exchange them at a local pet shop. You can stop feeding your silk worms, this will stop their growing. One reason some chams wont go for silk worms is that the worms don't always move around alot. Chams are "triggered" by their preys movement. Try placing the worms under a spot light, the heat will cause the worm to move. also, how you present their food might have something to do with it, try as many different approaches as you can. Lastly, you can try staining your worms with green food coloring. Don't give up, silk worms are an excellent source of food!!

Sorry gang. I took them with me to the vet and stopped at a pet shop where a friend works who owns herps - she bought both mealies and silkies.
