Shipping snakes????

MotaRaider Feb 07, 2006 04:09 PM

I recently purchased a Pastel BP from Justin Kobylka. He is going to ship it to me, but i live in Indiana dn its very cold. How warm should it be to safely ship him up to me? I know there are heat boxes, but when its getting in the mid to low 20's at night whats safe?

I recommend not shipping below 45 degrees. There's a lot that can happen. If the heat packs fail and you are below freezing, your animal can die. If the package gets lost, your animal can be exposed to cold for even longer. If you overcompensate for the cold with heat packs and for some reason someone puts your package in an 80 degree room, you can cook the animal. Shipping can be tricky and the animals are often exposed to temperature extremes. Be patient and ship when it's safe.

If he's not aware of the temps in your area - first shame on him for not checking and second DO NOT LET HIM SHIP. That is way too cold. Even with a heat pack or two - anything below 40* is pushing it - although plenty of people will ship down to 35* but 20* is definately a no-no.
