peachthroat and bluetails together

holygouda Feb 07, 2006 05:45 PM

This is probably an absurd question, but I was just curious. Is it possible to house peachthroats and bluetail monitors together? Has anyone tried it? Do captive bred peachthroats exist or has there been no success? Are there any good websites for peachthroat information and/or owners? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I would probably avoid keeping V.jobiensis and V.doreanus together. It is certainly possibly but, I think that with the general lack of success with both species it would be much better to try to breed one or the other rather than possibly creating hybrids. Not to mention that keeping any two monitors can have it's own set of risks even when they are the same species. I haven't heard of anyone breeding jobiensis recently but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. My female produces eggs but my nesting has beem off. I hope I have that all straightened out now. I don't know of any sites with a whole lot of info on peachies. They are kinda flighty, and will climb swim and dig if you let them.

Cheers,
Steve
