Who would win in a battle for survival between a Kingsnake and a Mussurana? Who would More likely Kill who?
This type question is brought up from time to time. Sometimes it's indigo vs. king.
Most are not serious and seem to be trolls of some kind.....
Anyway...
Too many variables. Size/age etc. Obviously, unlikely they would ever meet, huh? Mussaurana are very big and strong snakes for sure. In nature, two similarly sized snakes would probably avoid each other.
Try King Kong vs. Godzilla..now THAT'S a topic.

Which Hulk?
The green Hulk can whup just about anybody's butt. Except for maybe Galactus.
The grey Hulk though, is a comparative wimp. I think the Thing could take him.
how about the 7 dwarves vs. the keebler elves????
Bob, the Keebler elves would smother dem dwarves in rich chocolaty fudge! Don't be messin' with the chocolate, man!
Todd Hughes
mr. clean vs. the brawny dude???
frankenstein vs. jason???
At least that's what they portrayed in their individual movies. King Kong climbed the Empire State building - Godzilla could knock it out of the way!!!
(Of course one day, the Japanese quickly injected some "growth hormone" into King Kong, so he could grow another 380 feet in order to fight Godzilla in their movie) If you watched the american version of that old movie, then King King won. In the Japanese version Godzilla won. In my version: 400ft lizard vs. 20foot ape? Well, I guess I would safely say that Godzilla got this one (unless you could inject King Kong with some Japanese "movie growth hormone"
.
I better stop now (LMAO), I'm killin' myself & showing my true age. . . .Sorry. . .

WOW!!! Funny thread. Very suprising to see someone that has knowledge on Godzilla and King Kongs "tale of the tape".
I used to get into arguments as a kid with others kids who thought King Kong would win if they fought. Godzilla is bigger and would also roast Kong with that radioactive flamethrower!
Yes, I'm probably about your age too! LOL
Hulk vs Superman??? I'm gonna have to go with Superman because he's smarter.
Now the one abut the 7 Dwarfs vs the Keebler Elfs..........???
Mussuranas are venomous.
There is someone on this forum that has fed kings to his mussurana.... maybe he'll surface and shed some light.

I have an ole' buddy here in Buffalo who used to deal with and occasionally breed mussuranas (sp?) in the late 80's and early 90s. By the way, Frank, he knows both you and Tracy, from her Buffalo Zoo days.
Anyway, he used sell babies to a sort of an underground herp shop here in town. Several of those mussuranas met kings on an accidental basis, mostly through someone escaping and finding their way into a surrounding cage, I know...not cool. The kings were mostly getula, blairs and pyros, and much of the time (if I'm forced to think, almost 50%) in the end, the kings ended up sh*!!ing out mussurana skin.
Let me say up front that I don't have any numbers, but the encouters happened more than they should have. After the two stopped meeting, I remembered thinking that it ended up being a draw. The deciding factor was body mass, the bigger kid always won.
I don't know the components of mussurana venom, and I won't claim to. However, I have heard from friends, and have seen on occasion, mussuranas chew up a little king relentlessly, only to end up a steaming pile on the far side of the cage. Later.

Would also depend on the species of Clelia involved, there's no doubt size would be an important factor. I know of one instance where a california was killed within minutes of being bitten by an equally sized rustica Boy was that guy upset! He dropped the king into what he thought was an empty bag that had an argentine in it, thrashing commenced and the two were seperated quickly but the king slowly "faded" out similar to the effects that eastern corals have on Elaphe, the bite was about half way down the body.....

I wonder if the samething woulda happened with an Eastern or Floridana ? I read a summary of a venom resistance study and Floridana and L.g.g. were resistant to waaaaay more venoms than any of the subs. I think they used Coral venom as well in the study. I also wonder if the Central American Lamps have any venom resistance.
...pity questions like this have to be so morphed & twisted by silly respondents...ah the limits of the medium...
Very interesting note Mr. H
I have in fact performed this experiment on several occasions & the results are very interesting...however forgive me as I am not ready to reveal my results & wouldnt do it here in any case...too much unchecked emotion!
I note however where ever getulus bumps up against indigo or mussurana habitat...they become somewhat scarce...
Biers / RxR
I was wondering if you were going to respond, heheh. I too noticed that their ranges don't overlap much, if at all. Make ya wonder. Even if we don't consider the venom, mursuranas are pretty nasty. It would be an interesting match. Please email me your results (my friend
).

herperhelmz-can you tell me where you read that they are venomous?(title,author,date,whatever...)thanks..justin
A simple internet search will reveal that information if you are curious. I also know several people that keep and breed them, which involves feeding,
and I know someone who has used baby kings in feeding trials, and no they are not immune to clelia venom.

I also know a person that breeds them. I dont know if they are venemous but I agree completely with you a King being more or less same size wouldnt stand a chance.
In this forum they dont want to hear that

Both more or less same size the Mussurana would kill the king. Your asking this question in the wrong forum as most here dont want to see that. Its weird its like they take it as a personal attack on them.
You can see the avoidance in answering this with the responces of godzilla, etc lol.
