Help needed with Nerodia erythrogaster

Feb 08, 2006 10:26 AM

Hi
Last Autum I found a male Nerodia erythrogaster flavigaster in Monte Vallo Alabama.
I have always hoped to get the other supspecies erythrogaster or "Red bellied water snake" in the dark uniform black form with a red belly.
Are these within the hobby, and do anyone know a breeder?
I am going back to Alabama and Agamainternational to help Bert in April and I would be very happy to get a pair of those with me back

Best wishes

I'm sorry, I can't be of any actual help here. I have not bred any of my snakes as yet ... and of erythrogaster I have only one male, white-bellied Yellow Belly (flavigaster) and a "normal" female Red Belly!
I have considered breeding them and wondered what the results would bring. I suspect at least some would be black with red bellies. It might be interesting to see.

While you're at Agama, check out the status of Green Lacerta. I'm just curious.
Michael
