bluerosy Feb 08, 2006 10:53 AM

Has anyone bred :

whitesided brooks to a whitesided blackrat...?

amel honduran to a amel rutheni...?

hypo honduran to a hypo pueblin...?

Just wondering if any of these genes proved allelic.

i haven't but that is interesting. i have a lone female ruthven ready to breed maybe i will try her to my 2x het(albino and hypo) tangerine hondo. that would be interesting to see.

yes it certainly would raise eyebrows if any of these alleles match. I know that the hypo pueblin and even the lavender brooksi both trace back to Sounthern Reptiles. My hunches on the whitesided have been bothering me as well.

Of course I cannot prove anything except what people directly or indirectly involved with Southern Reptiles have told me.

What a hoot !

Don't forget they had the Hypo Splendida, and some sort of questionable Snow/Blizzard Pit[can't remember what?} and the Super Brooksi if I am not mistaken.
Though I never ended up buying anything from Southern Reptiles both the father and the son were cool to me on the phone, but I have heard many people bash them... The thing that stinks is how the anti hybrid paranoia goes in full circle eveyr few years with people who don't doubt things much for a few years and then some sherlock holmes purist types go on a crusade that usually ends up as a guessing game anyways. Another thing is it is easy to associate new names on some of those morphs and people who do not dig into the history simply refer to it as the new guys stock, when it can be traced back to another source who actually started it.
I made that mistake even with a non hybrid...as I always refered to Envy stock Sonorans as a line he started, but that was not the case. Things happen. I would love to know about all the snakes mentioned in this post too, as I will not be heartbroken if many morphs were proven to be impure, but it would still be cool to know for sure. Tom Stevens

Didn't you and I once have a short conversation regarding my thoughts about some of the whitesided morphs??
