That big girls ovulate big. If you've got a large healthy female thats going to put out 10 eggs, she ovulates 10 eggs all at approxiamtely the same time...making her huge. I guess it really depends on the individual snake's body type, amount of fat, etc.

I think the trick is that in some, the ovulations come and go pretty quickly. If you only look in once a day for instance, you could miss the "peak" of ovulation...you look in Tuesday night and she looks a little big, you look in Wednesday night and she still looks the same....she may have gotten really big in the time you were not looking.

I've often completely missed ovulations just because I didn't check in while out for a couple of days....

If anything, it is more evident in my experience....unless by really big you are talking about 4000 grams, then I don't have any experience...lol

when my 3900g girl ovulated it looked like she swallowed a rabbit for 2 days. There was no missing it. However when my smaller girl ovulated today, I noticed a little swelling in the morning and by noon she was at her peak (looked like a jumbo rat in her) and by 9 tonight she had gone back down to what could be described as a lump the size of a normal meal. So in my experience, the big girls ovulate larger than the smaller girls. Now when it comes to large pythons, it's impossible to miss, lol. I had a 18ft retic that i thought was going to pop, she gave me 65 good eggs and 4 infertile, now that would be one heck of a bp clutch, lol.

Most of my females are 2000 - 3000 grams when they ovulate. If I catch it at its peak, it's easy to see. If I don't, well, I make a note of it and watch for the next shed.
