Jumping RES

Ok, I have NOT discovered / bread (sp?) a new RES. More correctly I was careless with my friend and I have somewhat amended my mistake.

Ok, during my most recent major tank cleaning, I found a hairline fracture in the glass. I say fracture because it can only be felt from one side of the glass. Immediately, I got a silicone sealant for aquariums from the local pet store and put a layer over the crack. It’s been drying for a little over a day now, instructions say for best results, wait 2.
Anyway, I have my little guy in a shallow reptile keeper (normally kept dry) which I usually put him in when I clean the tank. Well, I put his "potted plant" in there, and filled it with water up to the edge of the pot. (It’s an aquatic plant in a pot of large-size aquarium gemstones.) Anyway, despite having a lid for the keeper, I didn't think to put it on. Today, when I got back from classes, I discovered the keeper empty. My panic resulted from the fact that it is perched atop a small, waist-level counter and the keeper was near the edge with the plant at the edge. To get out, my little turtle would have immediately fallen all the way to the linoleum floor. (Hence I call it a jumper.) I found him amid the wrapping paper rolls tucked under my couch sleeping. He is now back in the tank with the lid on, but I am finally to my question. What injuries / symptoms should I be on the look out for over the next few weeks / days that would require treatment?

Thank you very very much, Ferg.

If you can't see any physical damage to him and he is behaving normally and eating. Then he should be fine. That does not sound like an terrbly bad fall for a turtle to endure.

Just make sure is swimming normally, his activity level is normal and he is eating and generally behaving as he always does.

I would also keep an eye out for any cracks in his shell. Although, I am surprised how tuff these little guys are. I think you will be fine, but it is good that you are keeping an eye on him. Good Luck!
