20 egg Rio Hatch ,group photo

Wow, what a feat to photograph 20 newbies that all had an attitude. I found spraying them with a water bottle humbled them long enough to get this photo without any major brawls.
Cheers, Bob Sutton

As far as I know I think it is a new record, I thought the old record was 17 hatched by Chuck Glut? Maybe Steve might know more about this? Steve are you there bud?
Thanks for the congrats, Bob Sutton

I have a 2 yr. old first pick from Chuck it is nice with bold markings just like your photo but lacks the yellow color on the tip of every bead which gives the lizard a higher yellow appearance like my other ones have. I know he has some impressive breeders though.

Hi Bob,
I think you may have the single clutch hatch record. I know Robert Applegate once got 22 eggs but I think only 17 or 18 were hatched. So that would give you(Bob Sutton) the record.
Take care,
Steve

Tim, When I first purchased 9 Rio hatchlings from Gregg North he sexed them and I sent 3.3 to a friend of mine in Europe. My friend couldnt believe when they turned out to be 3.3 and he has produced young ones from all 3 of his females, the 3 I bought were sexed at 1.2 and guess what? I have 2 females that have both produced viable eggs along with the male who bred them. With the technic there is just a visual study of the group of hatchlings. Within the study you will see similarities in some and differnt similarities in others. It is once you develop and know what you are looking for then you are able to sex them with extremly good accuracy. Now and then you may see one that you are not 100% sure of so that would be one that you would not sell as a sexed individual. And with the implant of microchips in any sexed animal we can identify any attempt at fraud with our method. We do hold back enough animals to replace any wrongs we may make. You cannot argue with experiance that has been 100% wheather some believe it is witchdoctor medicine or not because proof is in the pudding as they say. Can we be wrong in sexing any of them? Im sure we can but previous history record tells us the chances are slim to none. There was a DNA method years ago and it proved 50% accurate, with that said what is the point at 50% accurate? you can draw straws and come up with the same accuracy. Until DNA comes up with an 100% accurate test for sexing these helodermids it is pointless. Myself I am a conservative person and I knew once I offered this on hatchlings there would be some flack I would have to take but I feel confident enough to try and offer this. We do have a plan to cover ourselves on any wrongs we may create and that is the important part because we accept the fact there maybe a wrong in the sexing and as long as we have extra animals to compensate this then it is a good plan. We really only plan on maybe a couple of pairs being sexed as it does cost more for the microchip implant and the other addeed work that goes into it.

Steve, thanks for the confirmation on the record, I emailed Bob Applegate and he told me indeed I had the new record as he was not aware of anything larger ever being hatched, you know one year I did get 24 eggs from the same female but the eggs were all no good. She strung them out over about 1 week to 10 days and just spit them out randomly, I kept them track of all of them and I couldnt believe 24. She is a big B though. Hope to break this record again next year as I did have 21 that were all good and made it halfway through incubation when my substrate got a bit to dry and killed one of the eggs. I cut it open and there was a half formed embryo in it.
Thanks, Bob Sutton
