White mites on CWD?

Hokaiye Feb 08, 2006 08:35 PM

My CWD juvie, (Murdoc), appears to have little white bugs crawling on him. I cant see very many at a time, maybe two or three, and they are pretty small, but still visible to the human eye. Ive heard of mites before and researched them, but I cant find any sources that say mites can be white, and these little bugs are definetely a bright white. Does anybody know what is wrong?

P.S. A different topic: A couple of days ago I noticed him scratching at his eye, to the point where it was bleeding. Ever since then, its mostly closed, open occasionally at night, and looking better than before. There hasnt been oozing or anything other than him keeping it closed a lot. (Though its been open more recently) Should I be worried?

As far as the white things : sounds like they are spring tails, which are completely harmless....but id still make sure.

Eyes: Get a product called Terramycin (mfg by Pfizer, but it is on a raw materials hold right now, so it is tough to get, so you might have to get an equivalent, but make sure it is for OCCULAR ANTIBIOTICS from a vet) and put it on its eye. That should work well. I would reccomend a vet visit anyways.

PS: repti relief works great for any external parasite.
