Lowes, Home Depot, WalMart....any place that sells plants or gardening products should carry perlite or vermiculite.
I'm not sure if any of you have an Ace hardware near by but I purchased a bag, about the size of a full trash bag, for a mere 5 bucks from my local Ace lawn and garden.
If you are asking about this for egg-laying, you want vermiculite.
You do not want perlite in any case because your animal could ingest it. I am not sure if chams can break it down or not, but I would not recommend having it. It may block internal passageways within the cham and take up space where there would naturally be food.
It is also carcinogenic if inhaled.

If you read the post about carpet chameleon eggs, I think you will find that this person is wanting the perlite to incubate the eggs in.
I've never used it for incubating eggs myself but I know of lots of people who have used it successfully.
so then, its okay..?
I have no experience myself with using perlite as I said...I have just heard that others have used it successfully. I can't tell you how to set it up. Sorry. Maybe someone else will tell you.
