feeding pinky's

Mach5Speedy433 Feb 09, 2006 09:58 AM

I have two female leopard geckos that I've had for two years and now want to try feeding them pinky's. The only place I've seen them is at petco where they are frozen, but I am supposed to find a place that sells live ones cause they probably won't eat them dead right? Any advice or instructions on this matter would be more than appreciated.

mine take thawed and frozen no problem. try it out i'm sure it'll work. take the time to thaw it all the way. nothing like i a good mouse-icle to turn them off pinkies for good.

MIne take frozen/dethawed pinkies. Just make sure they are fully dethawed. A few of mine like them, a couple others won't take them. I don't offer them very often, usually only a few times a year, mostly when the females are laying eggs. I feed 1-2 day old pinkies (f/d) when I do offer them. I have never tried live.

I to only offer them ever now and then. So far for both Kirmy and Alberto I have only offered live pinkies. They dont seem to be much interested in things that dont sqirm. Half the time I have to fiddle with the meal worms to get them sqirming before they will take them, I would imagine though every Gecko is diferent so to each his own

I gave my leopard gecko a pinky for the first time six weeks ago and she loved it! Ate it right up! She usually has mealworms in her cage daily and I would give her crickets every 1-2 weeks. Two weeks after the first pinky feeding, I bought another which she did not eat. I tried again a week later and again she did not eat it. I thought maybe she simply wasn't hungry since she still had mealworms and crickets the week before. However, for the past week she has had no food so again I offered her a pinky and she did not eat it. That was yesterday. Today I bought her crickets and she has not eaten a single one. I am starting to get concerned. What should I do?
