do i need a seperate stat for EVERY tub with heat tape on it?
does that even make sence? help is much apreciated.

It depends on your setup. Normally, a rack has one continuous length of heat tape. A controller can easily handle that. If you have multiple racks one controller may be able to handle those. But you need to ensure that all tubs are being heated equally. For example, one rack may be set to 95 at the hot spot and provide an ambient temp of 82-85. But another rack with smaller tubs could get hotter at that same setting.

I use one Helix DBS-1000 for every 2 racks.
I place the probe on the heat tape/cable of the center tub.

I don't think Vision is making them anymore which is unfortunate because they're really good.

set up all tubs in the rack exactly the same, same substrate, depth of substrate, placement of heat tape, location of hide(s)etc. and then have the temp probe reading the warmest point of the midle most container. I would monitor temps from time to time with a second digital thermometer as well as a back up precaution.
