ball python ingested coconut bedding

arumat Feb 10, 2006 02:12 AM

About 1 month ago I purchased a pair of ball pythons and noticed that they were housed in a closure with a bedding of cubed coconut shells. Anyhow while feeding the female a mouse she ingested a large piece of coconut shell that I had to push back up because it became lodged in her throat. I was lucky it was at a point were I could still push it up. Meanwhile the male still hadnt eaten and had gotten quite thin. I then decided to try to force feed it and then I noticed a large hard object within the stomach....another coconut cube? Any ideas on how to get this thing out of its stomach.

Sounds like a vet job to me, complete with X-rays and surgery if it is a hunk of coconut.
