Sound Gravid?

Amelcorn Feb 10, 2006 09:37 AM

My female has been breeding my Pastel for several months now. And has readily accepted rats throughout that time period. I have noticed her coiling up under the heat light for a couple of days now. And now she is refusing food. Does it sound like she may be gravid to you? She is looking a little thicker if you know what I mean. Anyways, thanks for any input.

have you witnessd an ovulation,in my opinion its a very good sign but just dont jump to soon, but keep the watchfull eye and get the incbator ready just in case

No, I haven't seen ovulation, but I am kinda new to the ball game. I've seen pictures before, but never noticed it in her. Probably a rookie mistake.lol But thanks for the encouragement.

This is how she has been coiling the last couple days. I read farther down in the forum that they coiled right after ovulation.

shes a big girl is that a seperate container shes in specifically for laying i would use a different ground medium for the laybox maybe pre-baked damp cypress mulch or vermiculite/perlite mix JMHO

It is cypress, but slightly dried out. As soon as she goes into shed I will put in damp spagmum moss. Thanks

She could be building - or it's possible that she is gravid - but you missed the ovulation.

If you haven't been to this sight (linked below) - it gives you a good idea with pictures to see what it is that you can be looking for.
