Wild caught health check - preventative measures taken?

colubrids Feb 10, 2006 01:32 PM

When deciding to bring a wild caught specimen into a group of CB Colubrids, what measures do you feel need to be taken during the quarentine time for preventative health measures of the Wc snake and the others already existing in the household?

Do you feel all WC snakes should be treated for internal parasites whether they are showing signs of them or not?

I just received a WC florida King recently. She is of a very healthy size and is eating well, but is very inactive and shows some traces of blood around her vent. This is the animal I am asking in regards to.

...ha the easy answer is none...its the captive snakes you better worry about imopine & extensive experience.
Other than an oaccasional tick or mite...w/c are in balance w/ their micro-biota...just like you hopefully are right now too...
Sterility is an unnatural..thus undesireable condition...but most herp-keepers will never choose to "get this"...
