Yes...another help-with-naming request

steen Jul 26, 2003 02:50 PM

Alright...my family and friends and I have debated over my new little guy for a few days and can NOT come up with a name that suits him...Here are a few little quirks that might help you come up with something:

1) He has a great pattern on his head...a full diamond. He also has a little black spot over his right eye. There's a link to a picture of him below...and no I wasn't being a grouch, just trying to get my cam to work!

2) He is my first corn, something that I have wanted for 14 years now...finally! :-D

3) He hasn't used his hides once since I put him in his cage...instead he's been hiding in the branches of a plant that I have decorating the back wall of his cage (This seems odd...has anyone else heard of a corn doing that??) I think he's trying to be arboreal!

4) He's an okeetee corn from Kathy Love...and a beautiful little boy!

5) He traveled all the way across the country yesterday (Florida to Washington)

Thanks for your help...if I think of any other significant traits I'll let you know!

Kristine

P.S.-- Do all of these "help me name my snake" threads drive you guys nuts??

Naming any pet can be a pain. Especially when you begin to acquire quite a few of them.
You can use characters from your favorite books or favorite movies.
you can go by looks, or attitude or so many different things.
You could possibly go with something that is tied to the black eye like Pete (the Little Rascal's dog with the black ring around it's eye)
Or maybe Gem for the Diamond shape or even Diamond itself.
The options are endless.
I named my Okeetee Doc. I got that in an odd way but it works for me.
Okeetee = OK = OK Corral = Doc Holiday = Doc
or my Ghost, Jacob
I named him Jacob after Jacob Marley, Scrooge's ex partner and the first ghost to appear and fortell of the three ghosts to come.
Then I have a few named after characters in The Lord Of The Rings.
There is my female Creamsicle, Arwen. And my male Creamsicle, Strider who will naturally be Arwen's mate.
Or maybe my Anery, Legolas. I thought Legolas was a pretty cool play on words for a snake (leg less)
Or my Amel that I named Yoda due to the perfect "Y" on her head. I named her before I was sure of her sex. So, Yoda it is.
I didn't really give you any decent name ideas but hopefully I gave you a few ideas on how to come up with a name.

naming other peoples' animals is always hard. some people snake their snakes spot or princess, while mine are named Lucien, Akubra, Psyche, Fleur.. the list goes on. Way on.

one name i can't find a snake to fit is Alastor. Oh, Vance too. No snake has come along and showed the right look yet.
i don't know which kind of snake naming person you are, so it may not work at all. but i thought i'd try to prevent one less 'spot'.

Too bad he wasn't a King snake...King of Diamonds.. How about Ace? (I'm running with the card thing here.....) Either way, he's a beaut! Good luck.

That's a nice little okee. I named my first okeetee Jake, after Jake the Snake Roberts from WWF (wrestling) since that's one of the first places I remember seeing a snake somewhere other than my backyard! I don't have him anymore but since then I have like 9 other corns, many of which I too have problems naming. Especially when I use some for educational purposes and kids are like, 'what are their names?' Most often, I just call them what they are (ie Ghost, Snow, etc). You could name him Jasper, after the county where they are found in. Or you could just type in baby names in google.com and the search results will probably pull up sites full of baby names.
GOOD LUCK with him (and smile in your next photo! LOL)
