I am considering a trip to the Big Bend area to bird (Colima Warbler, et al) and, of course, herp the River Road or Black Gap. We want to camp, but want to camp somewhere that has decent showers (and not at Rio Grande Village).
Does anyone know any campgrounds in the area that have bathrooms with hot showers and offer tent camping? Some shade would be nice, but not a deal killer.

When do you plan to go? I may be that way at the end of the month (we have not fully decided what locality to look in yet). If it all works out maybe we can share some expenses.
Don't know when it will open back up....but Big Bend has been closed due to the Mountain Lion attack on a visitor.
