cage plans --"funnymanreptiles"???

lola44 Feb 11, 2006 08:32 AM

Hi all, back again, after all the wonderful input I received a few posts down about transferring to a new cage I keep getting shot down finding places that will ship a large cage across the border (to Canada). I had no problem getting the smaller cage but getting someone to ship the 24 x 24 x 48 one seems to be a little more difficult. I remember seeing very simple and very detailed plans on funnymanreptiles website but the website is gone. Does anyone have those plans that they could email to me? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks again for any help. Lo

Lola, Greetings From Burlington Ontario.

What is the problem with Canadian Made Cages? Someone up here should be able to sell you one, make you one or located one. Contact me via msn @ xexiledx@gmail.com if you ever want to talk about beavers, igloos or just say "Eh?"

Ahhh, a fellow canuck. Trust me, I've been looking on Canadian sites but the cages I really liked I've found at lllreptile and Bluebeast but because of the size its difficult or not worth it for them to send them up here. Which is totally understandable. If you know of anyone this side of the border that has them could you send me a link to the website? I really don't want a Reptarium or Flexarium/Explorarium. I was hoping for something similar to the ESU Fresh Air Habitat that I already have but bigger. The only place that I've seen here that has them wants $180 and its not even the size I wanted. Any help would be appreciated. If I can't find one then I'm off to the hardware/lumber store (gulp). WillHayward, if you can help I'll treat you to a Timmys double double Lo

Haha, I wonder how many people understood that last bit there. Personally, I would love one of the bluebeast cages. Very solid looking. Instead I decided to make my own.

If you want to talk about that route, email/MSN me xexiledx@gmail.com

The friendly folk here may be able to help you aswell on this one.

I'm shipping several cages this week, and can get one up to you if you're still interested. Just let me know!

TylerStewart, Thank you soooo much for the offer but I've decided that I'm going to attempt to build one myself. I've gotten a couple of good plans here and think I can handle it. (Ok read this as "my husband" can handle it-LOL) I've never had a problem getting supplies from "across the border" but i totally understand that sometimes its just not feasible to ship such a large item. Not that it can't be done but that the cost of it just wouldn't make sense. I had contacted 4 different places for the cage originally and it came down to either they wouldn't ship or the cost of shipping was too outrageous. Nice to see that you wouldn't have left me hanging if i was really stuck tho. I do appreciate that. Thanks for all the help. Lo

Hello, I don't have plans for a cage but this is the DIY page to make the window screens. It's really not that difficult but if you only make one cage, it will probably cost you a lot to do. The bottom of the cages are made from PVC board, the same stuff used for PVC pipe only in a 1/4" thick board form. You can get Home Depot to cut the board for you, then you won't have to buy a miter saw. The other tools you'll need are a hack saw, a screwdriver, an xatco knife or box cutter and a spliner tool.

If you don't want to go this route, I can check to see how much shipping would be if you tell me where you live in Canada. A 48" x 24" x 24" all screen cage is what you want? I don't have any that big made up so I'll need a little time. I'll match LLLs price of $85 but you'll have to pay the shipping. E-mail me at PardalisCham@msn.com, Mark.
