another hook-up

draybar Feb 11, 2006 12:44 PM

My snakes seem to be kind of hesitant this season but I had another hook-up today.
One of my male okeetees, Frodo, hooked up with my female okeetee, Ariel.
Hopefully, I will have some nice little okeetees this season.
I am especially hoping to get a few to work towards wider borders.
And in advance, I will simply laugh at anyone who suggests these are not okeetees.

I am soooo jealous. When did you take your snakes out of brumation? Mine still have not shed. I tried introducing them preshed and nothing. I have one male who is more than willing, another male who just freezes in place in the presence of a female then goes to the opposite side of the cage. Both my females are not interested at all. I am going to be REALLY bummed if nothing goes down this year.
How often should I be feeding the females to make them shed?

I took them out of brumation on 1/21
most of them haven't shed yet.
I also tried a few, post shed, with no luck.
I feed them once a week.
Normally they would eat various sizes of adult mice.
Some eat maybe a large adult, some maybe medium adults...etc.
I continue feeding them their regular sized adult mouse and add a hopper.
Don't be too impatient.
Give them time and keep trying.

Draybar,
I tried introducing my male today in lite of your success but he doesn't seem interested. The females haven't shed yet(post-hiber)
How long should I wait to reintro him?
He will hopefully be breeding with two females this season.
I regretfully had to sell alot of my breeders and holdbacks because of my divorce but i still have 7 (3 breeding age)

Marriages are nothing but a piece of paper to me. Its funny, divorces cost more than the marriages! I am not married now, but if my BF and I broke up, it might be a battle about the snakes and displays. Sorry you had to split up the collection. Major bummer

I was married by a judge. I should have asked for a jury.

Kinda off topic of snakes, but hope it makes you laugh

I would wait until the females shed and put them back together again.
