I haven't shared any photos of my V. boehmei in a while. This is a female. I think that this species is one of the most overlooked monitors; I admire their beauty and gracefulness.

But man you should work on your picture taking skills. Maybe ad some better lighting or change the aperture. Oh yeah and those pictures are huge could you just make them thumbnails next time? haha
One last thing you should probly give those poor monitors a good bath.
Ok now I will "snap" back to reality.
Keep up the good work and hope to see you posting more pictures of hatchling tree monitors.
Wonderful pictures of the V. boehmei. I have yet to see one come through over here. It looks like the little prasinus is coming along nicely. Keep up the great work with those tree monitors!
Cheers,
Michael
Hi Michael,
They are not very common here in the states either; my guess would be that there are under a dozen living specimens living in US collections at this time... There never were all that many imported in the first place; and was never imported as V. boehmei. To my knowledge, all were imported into the US before they were described in 2003.
They certainly are beautiful monitors.. Thanks again Michael,
Bob

all I usaully hear about tree monitors is what a pain they are and how they are not hardy captives. You must be providing top notch care to get them to do so well and even breed. Love the baby, almost a nean green.
Keep up the good work
Lovely female boehmei, I bet she would be even prettier if you gave her regular baths.. haha
Your baby is looking nice and plump. I wonder how many people worldwide have produced a true captive bred V. prasinus? That number must be very small indeed. You are doing truly exceptional work.
Neal, I just took your advice on giving her a soak.. She really didn't like it, in fact she began thrashing all over the place and bit the hell out of me, but at least she's nice and clean now, for my viewing pleasure.. That's what's important anyways, isn't it??

Hey Justin,

Mike's Monitors!
Thanks Mike,
Have you and the family moved down to Florida yet? or are you still planning on it? It would be great to have another dedicated individual such as yourself back in the swing of things; adding to our understanding of these magnificent animals. Good to hear from you buddy, talk to you soon!
