crestednation Feb 11, 2006 09:32 PM

Hello All,
What feeding tongs or lengths of tongs does everyone use for aggressive feeder adult GTPs?
Thank you in advance for all responses,
Nicole Corder.

I use 12" hemostats with the locking mechanism ground off. That and a barely opened door so that I can just slide that baby in and still have the bullet proof glass between me and the ravenous beast!

I use 24inch non-locking hemostats but I also use my Big Apple's 40 Inch Tongs, Adults can have a pretty long reach so I would at least use the 24inch ones a feeding bite hurts alot worse than a leave me alone bite.

I primarily use 18" hemostats for my adult gtps while feeding. I also have 18" tongs that are rubber tipped, but have a harder time getting just the right hold with the tongs and tend to drop the food items.

I use cages that have sliding glass doors for the adults so also open up the cage just enough to slide in the food item while keeping my hand on the outside. The longer hemostats seem to be a little harder for me to hold steady so keep coming back to my trusty 18" ones.
