2 Dead Sulcatas

abarton Feb 12, 2006 02:37 PM

I purchased 5 sulcata hatchlings in October of 2005 from Reptile Haven Online and since then, 2 have died. They showed no signs of illness. I have several sulcatas (separated)and the only ones dying are from Reptile Haven.

Has anyone experienced the same? I'm guessing parasites. Any insight would help or recommendations for a good vet in Southern California.

Thanks,
AB

Perhaps contact reptile haven and see if, in both of your best interests, they'll pay for a portion of the necrospy that should be done. Even if you recieve a cold shoulder, I'd send it away to get some answers. How old were the torts? If very young, environmental factors may be at fault, (perhaps the reptile haven shipment received worse weather than the other shipment); while parasites would be further down my list.

For vets, call around for referals. www.arav.com is a good start for herp vets in your area.
