Agressive female?

dantheham Feb 12, 2006 06:28 PM

I have a huge female that I would love to breed this season but I'm having a bit of trouble with her. She beats the snot out of any male I put in with her! Admittedly, she is around 95 grams, and my biggest male is "only" about 70

I haven't tried yet this year, but I tried 3 different males last summer and she really thumped them! I separated them before any serious damage could occur, but my Blizzard male now has a nice mouth shaped scar on his tail...

Anyone have this trouble before? How do you handle this with giants?

Thanks,
Big D

I've heard of many people breeding Giant females to normal sized males with no problems. If you are positive it is a female, maybe she is a "hot" female, this would account for her being overly aggressive. If in fact she is, she probably won't breed for you.

Hot Females are believed to be late bloomers in some newer studies. Have you noticed if she is even ovulating? If she is not, she will not be too willing to take a male even if she is not a Hot Female. Larger females do breed with smaller males all the time. She may just not be ready yet.

i agree with balloonz she probably isnt ready yet... i dont think the size matters really i just tried mating my 145 gram male to a 65 gram female and she wasnt ready yet and she kicked his butt and the bit the hell out of me when i removed her she was pissed! id just wait about a 3 wks to a month and try again
