Crested newborn gender?

breen7 May 19, 2003 12:40 AM

If it possible for a vet (or experienced breeder) to be able to sex newborn crested geckos?

Also if you have one female gecko in a tank and introduce another female later (of the same size) will there be a problem? Do they have to be brought into a tank at the same time?

Not for newborns. Around 4 months you can get a good idea. Although males can be late bloomers, so around 5-6 you can usually be sure. I personally keep all my animals separate; they do better on their own. Not stress or competition, not to mention you can monitor them better (what they are eating, fecals, etc.)
