Dumerils not eating

tcarter Feb 12, 2006 07:17 PM

A friend of mine has recently aquired a young Dumerils Boa and is having a tough time getting it to eat. He seems to be maintaining proper temps and humidity, so I don't suspect a husbandry issue, but there has to be something wrong. If anyone has experience with Dumerils and has some helpful insight, my friend would appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

tcarter,
...Some little Dumerils Boas will only eat live rat fuzzies until they get VERY hungry.

I'm going to see if my friend will let me take the Dumerils for a couple of days and let me try to get it to eat, I have quite a bit more experience with reptiles than he does.
Right now he tells me that he is trying to get the snake to take a live rat pup, but hasn't been successful yet. He has had this snake about two months is is worried sick that he is going to lose it if it dosen't eat. I will mention the suggestion about the rat fuzzies and see what happens.
