Odd Feeding Response

j_brodie9 Feb 12, 2006 09:14 PM

I have just received a male ball python that isnt very old but whenever I try to feed him a mouse, he will just strike it and won't constrict it. Anybody ever had this before and will he stop doing this eventually, or is there a way to solve this problem?

This is typically a fear or stress response not a feeding response. Try putting the mouse in a flower put turned upside down that has a hole at the top big enouhg for your snake to gow town and tall enough mouse can't get out. Do this at dark, let the snake go into hunt the mouse in it's hole mode...monitor the whoel thing. Wait as long as you can, and if it deson;t work take the mouse out...and basically keep at it until he eats.
