Looking for my Valentine

chaco Feb 12, 2006 09:22 PM

Hello I'm Zeus. Apparently, I've been looking for love in all the wrong places. I'm a big boy @ 24" and 260 grams and my interests are mating, mating and mating. If you're a big Ambanja girl, you could be my Valentine. Waiting for you.

Yeah, I only have two. Both female, The Chilean Rose Hair and a Mexican Red Rump. They ignore each other also. Are you able to handle your Goliath Bird Eater? My Rose Hair will be ten years old this year. She's huge and her fangs are so long that she gets them hung in your hand when you pick her up, completely by accident of course. Valerie.

I adopted the Rosa Leigh and Natasha form someone who could no longer keep them. I would not have chosen the goliath because they can be very aggressive and are real bad hair kickers!! She is about 2 1/2 years old and I do not handle her. I think the fatehr of the kid who had her tortured her (poking, etc. to see her get all worked up), so no, I don't handle her. Rosa is about 8 and she is handleable but I don't bother her too much. Apparently the kid used to handle her a lot but once he went off to college no one did so she seems a little gun-shy. She'll put up with it, but I let HER decide if she is up for it or not. My little pinktoe is quite handleable, but she is fast so need to be very aware of her. T's are so cool just to watch - (sort of like paint drying! lol!) when they are stalking or cleaning their fangs! My little pinktoe (really need to name her) is usually on the glass when she does it so I get to watch - have you witnessed this?

Do you mean that she climbs the glass? The first night that I had my Red Rump (my first T) she climbed up the glass, pushed the lid off the tank and got on the divider between two of my Panthers' cages. I didn't know they could climb glass, let alone push the lid off the cage. I was duely impressed with those feats.

My Rose Hair was also abused and starved at one point. She ate one of her own feet. It regenerated after the second time she molted once she belondged to me.

I do educational shows of exotic animals at schools and the Ts are always a big hit. I can't believe anyone would abuse one of the creatures, they are so gentle ( granted a Goliath has a different disposition). Valerie
