Feeding drickets and other live insects

roadfamily6now Feb 12, 2006 10:44 PM

How do you feed them?
Do you move your turtle to another dry tank?
We dont have a large basking area now, just the medium sixe floating basker so the dry areas of our tank are very limited, do the crickets die in the water?

I have fed he hoppers (locusts) before ( same as crickets without the noise) and i did put them on the dry area some of them did go into thee water and they did swim but if you only put a few the will be gone in seconds just be careful if you have no lid on your tank and if your water is high because there aren't called hoppers for nothing!!! easy just to kill them and put them on the land area but bit more fun watching your turtles trying to gobble them! The other thing i got told this in a turtle book but I'm not too sure how true this is but if your feeding them worms it's best to kill them as if your turtle eats one quickly it will stay alive and try and crawl out of your turtle and you don't wan that!!
