A. perthensis & humid hide boxes, and a feeding question

zach_whitman Feb 12, 2006 11:39 PM

Well, I tried it and it was a definite no go.

For the original question check out the post down bellow about termite mounds.

I was thinking that maybe since they are often found inside mounds (which are reasonably humid) that they would utilize a moist hide. I was wrong, over the past two weeks I tried variations of moistness with spagnum and papertowel. They never so much as even sniffed at it. I guess they really do just like it hot and dry. Surprise surprise!

Separate question... has anyone else noticed or heard that males are much harder to start feeding then females? Any hypotheses on why tht would be??

Nice perthensis. I would like to get some someday. I have noticed with my jungle carpet pythons, the females generally seem to feed a little more aggressively than the males, but I am not sure if it is significant or not. It may be that the females need to get bigger to be reproductively viable, the goal of any animal, so they try to take in as much as possible.
