xblackheart Feb 13, 2006 01:04 AM

I was just looking back at the "casper" threds.
It just made me think, What are some common snake names. I name most of my snakes according to what morph they are. Apparently others do too.
here are some of mine....
casper the ghost
Marge the butter
sunny the sunglow
candy the candycane
ziggy the zigzag
Snowy/blizzard/gringo the snows

anyone else have some commonly used names?
just for fun

tsusnakeguy Feb 13, 2006 01:07 PM

Ok here are mine,

Parkay, motley het butter
Charlie, motley het butter, bought at Daytona the year after Hurricane Charley hit during the show
Nessy, ok this one is a far fetch one, she is an Okeetee which reminded me of Lake Oklocknee (sorry for misspelling) which reminded me of the lochness monster and you have nessy.
Freebie, a snow that I got for free with my two het butters
Hienz, who was sold as an anery motley mutt so he has a little bit of everything
Susan, amel possible het carmel and she is lazy so she is a lazy susan
Ok I got tired of naming so my ghost stripe is just called the ghost.

Sorry some of those are real bad but o well they will hopefully make you laugh

well, haven't really named my corns after their morph. the first corn i ever bought was a normal amel, which i named copperfield. i choose this name because the snake had a habit of disappearing from his cage, only to reappear hours later, usually after i had frantically searched the cage and the room it was kept in, thinking he had managed to escape. after the first time he did this, i called him copperfield, after the illusionist, david copperfield.

unfortunately that snake is no longer in my possession, he now had a home with one of my former co workers who also owned an albino miami king [or whichever albino kingsnake that is white with yellowish stripes]

my missing and presumed dead ghost corn i named spaz as she consistantly went nuts every time i opened her cage. but as she is long gone, most likely a dried little husk behind the kitchen cupboards where i can't access and is the only place i haven't been able to check.

i now have two adult normal corns and two snow corns. none have been named as yet, no names have come to mind. though one i am thinking of calling the psp, the pre-shed psycho, because of how much a fit he takes when bothered while he is in shed.

I had a black ratsnake named Midnight, a butter named Butters (south park)

I currently have Wilson. He is a ball python and I name him Wilson because of the ball on Castaway (made sense to me)
I have a mbk named Onyx because he is jet black.
The rest don't make sense and are pretty random.
-----
0.1 Snow Corn "Hope"
1.0 Ball Python "Wilson" (Castaway)
1. Orange Albino Black Ratsnake "Chunk" (Goonies)
.1 Orange Albino Black Ratsnake "Peaches"
0.0.1 Mexican Black Kingsnake "Onyx"

Paul Hollander Feb 13, 2006 01:50 PM

At one time, every third python was named "Monty". And "Pliskin" was pretty common too. Rent a movie named Escape From New York if that name doesn't ring a bell.

They never come when I call them anyways.

xblackheart Feb 14, 2006 07:41 PM

That is not the only reason for names. LOL. Mine are named, so when i am talking to people who do not know anything about morphs, can know what snake that I am talking about. It is also easier to keep track of. Although all my snakes have a set numer assigned to them, to help keep trck for breeding, Its easier to say "casper did not eat this feeding" as opposed to saying "snake 00001405 did not eat". I can picture the snake in my head if I think of the name, but if someone were to ask me which snake went to which number, I'd have no idea.

I give my animals human names more often than pet names. ;-P
