anothere...

Looks good. I do not know but you may need a bigger cage eventually. Also, PVC coated wire is safer for their feet.
I have small oustaleti, so I am not where you are yet. But eventually I'll have some giants and some I'll have to sell because that will be too many giants too feed.
Did you say you were in PR? KIT, I am in FL and I'd like to know how yours does with the climate. Upon researching, I have found that they tolerate a wide range of temperatures. So, I have exposed mine to 50-95F over this season. Anything lower and they come in.
Does anyone have pics of babies and juvie oustaleti they could share? Actually I have bot oustaleti and verrucosus, and it is hard to tell the difference.
If you want you can email me privately.

actually i am getting a juvi like next week. the cage is like 6 foot tall. in the top of the cage it sometimes can get to more than 95 but just when the sun hit it directly.
on the lower part it alwasy stay to like 85. it can and will get hotter because the summer is coming. but i will but a tree in front of the cage so the sun dosnt hit the lower part and the temps stay low. the tree is just temporal for just some months.
and for the time i am at school i will put a dripper.
with the 95f temps did they do okay? or just for a short time?
alejandro
About 95F, I have had only panthers and Melleri out in that high a temp. Both species stayed in the shade and did not need to bask during this time, but were active if I let them roam in a secured tree. As for oustaleti, I have read that they are exposed to 100F in their dry habiat and need less water than other forested species, BUT I equate that to lower humidity. I have also read that they get water from dew on leaves in the morning. I have not had weather to expose my oustaleti to those temps yet, but summer is coming. I really worry if higher humidity may cause skin problems with this species as I have had with lateralis. That was probably a combination of temps and humidity.
You should contact Jim at The Chameleon Company since they have raised a few generations of oustaleti in Central FL. I'm sure they would have some good suggestions and husbandry techniques.
A dripper is good, but you could purchase an electrical timer and cheap water pump for a fish tank and with some ingenuity hook it up to a mister head. Therefore you could have it come on multiple times a day. Though in summer, you may not need this because of rain. I know I get plenty.
You could also hook a battery powered timer up to your garden spigot and do the same thing with some poly tubing and a mister head.
Looking forward to hearing about your experiences and I hope you have fun with your new cham.

well yes in summer we get some rain but in some days it get super dry so i would need a mister or something like that for the time i am not at home because school. but all days in the morning we always get some rain. the top of the cage is half covered to give him more shade and to protect him when theres to much rain. and on the left side of the cage its a lime tree that also give shade for the sun of like 11 to 2 pm. so that can help to cool down the cage alitle more.
i will try to contact him soon.
