C. melanosterna

willum Feb 13, 2006 12:16 PM

hello everyone,

I have a couple of C. melanosterna, but i have a few questions about them.
What is the right temperature for them? 30 degree in the whole tank or 30 degree under the basking spots?

I also had a question about what size the watertank should be for them.

I'm going to build a tank with the measures of 180x120x240 (length, deep, high), so all the information is welcome.
I'm from holland so I haven't got the option to keep them outside.

greetings

A basking spot is best with the hot spot at 100 to 120 degrees (you'll have to covert to metric). If it gets too cold at night, heat the reptile room to 75 degrees, or heat the hide box/sleeping area to 75 degrees. Check the temp though, because it is not good for them to sleep in an area that is too hot. A water dish is all they need. The do not soak (at least mine don't) and they come from a dry sub-tropical enviroment.
Good luck
