I need help with feeding grayband

donbird8 Feb 13, 2006 02:25 PM

I have 2 graybands. 1 eats whenever I feed him. The other will not eat pinkies. She will only eat lizards and geckos. Unfortunately, this time of year, I can't find any of those. Does anyone know where I can get some feeder lizards now? Anyway, I have tried everything to convert her to pinkies from scenting to the "bag feeding". Please help me with some ideas or a place to get some lizards or geckos for a reasonable price. Thanks!

Real quick, 80 to 90% of graybands seem to be faily easy to convert over to pinks. Sometimes they need to get a little hungry before they will take a pink, especially if you are giving them the impression that there is a supply of delicious lizards for him to eat. try using a tiny patch (1/4 cm by 1/4 cm) of lizard skin, shed skin works (if you have a dead lizard a patch of skin will work too)on the nose of the pinky. if you wave it in front of his nose he will grab the pink and usually eat it, so long as you avoid any sudden moves and the room lighting is kind of dim. after a few trys it should begin to bite an uncented pink as a trained response.

Some pointers based on my experience/opinions, not a garantee of future performance and your results may vary, so good luck.

Jim
