Hello,
The answer you seek is in the book, you just have to spend the time to find it. For me to offer quotes, I would have to look it up. Take your time and read it. he Biology of Gila Monsters and Beaded Lizards is the most informative work ever published on the family Helodermatidae.
Good luck,
HorridumAngeli

it's a locality thing and there is no difference between the two except pattern.

Tim,
you are right in saying that locality determines sub species. But as far as color generally H.s.cinctum are more reduced black and have extreme amounts of salmon or orange than H.s.suspectum. How ever, there are exceptions to this generalization. It shows this in the color plates of Dan Becks book. So color alone does not determine sub species.

Steve, I went to that link on your site yesterday and it says to save 28% on the book click for a discount code, well they emailed me a discount code and when I ordered the book by phone as I had trouble with the website they told me the discount code was invalid and from 2003? Anyway I got whacked for the full price and bought the book anyway as Im sure its worth it. They said 2 weeks I should have it.
Thanks, Bob Sutton

Hi Bob,
I would call them and make them honor that discount. I just went on line tonight and put in my code and they gave me the discount. Check and make sure that you are using zeros instead of o's for the code. I did it wrong the first time and it would not go through. I bought extra copies for when it goes out of print it will be worth $.
Take care buddy,
Steve
