Kathy Love....

phiber_optikx Feb 14, 2006 01:43 AM

Actually anyone with experience can answer this. I just thought Kathy would be the one to ask due to the vast amounts of snakes she encounters. So I am posting a link to Don's butter. My question is how common is it for a butter to have that coloration? Most butters I see are more of a dirty yellow/champagne. Do these colors come through after several years or is this an exceptional specimen?http://www.cornsnakes.net/gallery.php3?id=50
thanks for your input. Also, how common is this coloration?

I have had a few that were ligther and brighter yellow than the one that was posted a few days ago (the one somebody received from Don that had creamsicle in it). But the one posted a few days ago looked more typical to me than the one that you pointed me to today. But maybe Don has a whole bloodline that look like that - you would have to ask him. I don't keep a lot of butters, but none of mine look like that photo. It is true that babies don't show all of their true yellow that they will later, but most that I have seen are not as light and bright as the one in your post.

Thank you Kathy. You are always a great help.

Do you happen to have any emoryi that are not het for anything? I am wanting just a plain old emoryi. Maybe you will hatch one this season? I know not many people breed the "normals" when there are amels to be had. But I thought I would ask anyway. Thanks again.

I am not that "into" emoryi, and actually am considering getting out of them entirely this season. So I may part with my albinos and my het female adults this year (after eggs are laid) and not produce them anymore.

I really like red and orange, lol!

I've seen a few Emoryi for sale on the classifieds. Not sure if they're het for anything or not. Also, Don Soderberg works with some locality Emoryi. Here is my Oklahoma locality Emoryi Rat I picked up from Don about two months ago. She is 100 percent normal Emroyi, Het for nothing. Good luck. Though Emroyi rats will never surpass Corns in popularity, I'm a huge fan of them.

I checked with Don. he is out of emoryi. Did everyone know he is working on a book?

Ahhh. I guess that was too obvious, Well, I own both of Kathy's books, so I guess I'll have to add Don's book to my list as well.

will be published by Bob Ashley (he puts on the shows in Tinley Park / Chicago, and Anaheim, and he also published the new ball python book). Considering Don's knowledge and photos of corns, and Bob's knowledge and diligence in publishing, I am expecting it to be a really great book!

phiber_optikx Feb 15, 2006 11:33 PM

That is the great thing about the corn industry.....There is no other industry I can think of where the top competitors are friends (judging by the photos I have come across of the two of them together) and where you can say "I'm out but go get them from Don"
