Coral albino female with an unknown due date? never had POS - anyone else have that happen?

Locolizard Feb 14, 2006 10:01 AM

Well this girl sure looks like she is full of babies and temp checks like she is gravid, but she never had a POS so i have no clue when to expect babies on this girl. She was bred mostly by a jungle male then by a possible dominant striped ghost male so it will be quite easy to see who the parent was. Oh and the female is also 66% het for anery, could be a pretty neat litter. I witnessed copulation with both males.

Anyone else have luck with a female that didnt have a POS and still had a successful litter? Im keeping my fingers crossed

Thanks for looking,
Mark Miller

I just had a hypo litter and she shed only two weeks before she gave birth. One can't always go by the POS date.

...in 04' that dropped 34 babies(sunglows, albinos, hypos and normals) and 1 slug that never had a POS, but she did have a big ovulation. She delivered 120 after ovulation, which I find to be a much more accurate predictor of birth than the POS. Good luck with her!

My female sharp albino last year didnt .. I didnt see her ovulate and she didnt have a POS and you know the rest of that story.. all was good.
I had put male in with her on 12-01-04 and had babies on 6-16-05.

Good luck.. I see you have some really awsome litters going on this year... all the best!!

IF ( big if there) you know the date she ovulated, then it is usually about 125 to 135 days from that date. It gives you a ballpark date anyway. I like to take pictures with the date stamp on during breeding season, for this very reason. That way, if there is no shed, I have a picture of the ovulation with the date on it.
Look at it this way now you get to stay up for a couple weeks on "boa watch", instead of just a few days. Don't you just love breeding season.

Hey mark

That girl is smoking. I had a big female give me a successful litter last year with no pos. I just counted 120 days from her ovulation and was born right at day 120. Good luck with that girl.

I have had most part of my females(80%) with a p.o.s.(like in books) but I never had a female that did not shed from ovulation to birth. Some females will work the same every year, some with and some without p.o.s. Can a shed 6 weeks after ovulation be called p.o.s. ? One thing must be considered, how long did she shed before ovulation ? If she did it 3 weeks before ovulation, most part of the time, you will not get a p.o.s. in the 3 weeks but in the 7 or 8 weeks.
The P.O.S., is just a way to estimate the birth date when you missed the ovulation .

I had a female Het. Albino last year that had no POS, but I did see the ovulation! She produced 8 albinos and 9 het. albinos. Since I saw her ovulate, I just did 120days plus or minus five days and I was within 2days of her delivery!

Pixs are of a Baby het. albino from last years litter if you notice he is laying on a albino!

This female ovulated on Oct. 26th and never had a pos, she did shed about a month ago however. I'll have to look back on her record and see when her last shed was, before ovulation. Anyway today is day 113, I'll let you know how things turn out!
