Whites Dumpy Tree Frogs, aseptaceimia?

sillymendy Feb 14, 2006 11:48 AM

Good Afternoon!

I currently have 3 dumpy tree frogs, and two are not doing well. It almost seems that one coughed up his stomach this morning, and a second one has started to turn a brown color from his normal green and is hanging out in his water bowl/bubbler. The tank never drops below 30% humidity, it is usually around 60%. The temp varies between 80-82 degrees. I lost one this morning, and now these two look unhappy. I was told to mist them with baytril and to raise the temperature; that they may have aseptaceimia? Any info would be great- thanks!

I'm no expert in tree frogs (or any herp) but you definitely have a problem. I don't know if quarantining the survivors would help or cause more stress more harm. The humidity and temps seem OK. I'm more partial to toads. I have found wild, mildly sick toads, usually in the spring, not eating, some what lethargic that have been cure by keeping them warm (85-90F) and feeding them crickets dusted with a calcium/multivitamin dust. I add extra zinc for sick toads. About 75% of them recover and return to the wild. I've tried soaking the ones that are in bad shape in various antibiotics with out any success. Yours sound like they are in bad shape and the only thing that has saved by 7 year old toad is a trip to the vet and 2-3 weeks worth of antibiotic injections.
